What is Twitter?

Have you ever gone through your list of Instant Messenger friends just to read their away messages? Twitter is essentially just a place for people to write short away-like messages called tweets to let other people know what they are up to. Once you have an account you can follow friends and see a list of their tweets, and you can let them know what you are up to with your own tweets. Each tweet is limited to 140 characters, so it makes for very quick interaction on both ends, sending and receiving tweets.

How are people using Twitter?

I’ll admit, I did not quite ‘get it’ when I first heard about Twitter, and it was not until a full day into using it that I understood why people use Twitter. It is an extremely easy way to share interesting links with friends, and quickly keep people updated about blog updates. I have been following a couple people that are always sharing what they are reading, and have built profiles that reflect what they write about in their blogs. Let us know how you are using Twitter in the comments below, and share your profile.
